Yamiley & Marc
AvenirThis Bridgerton-inspired September wedding featured show-stopping fuschia florals that completely transformed the Avenir grounds and ballroom.
From the Bride & Groom:
“We met on OK Cupid in May 2013. We spent the first night talking on the phone until sunrise and knew we had to meet each other. We said “I love you” within 5 days (but wanted to say it sooner!)
In October of 2021, we spent a long weekend in the White Mountains, and I proposed at Diana’s Baths in New Hampshire. I asked Yamiley if she wanted to take pictures of the waterfall, and set up “Marry Me” light-up letters while she was distracted. When she turned around she was stunned and speechless; she thought the bag I was carrying had supplies for a picnic, not a sunset proposal!
The groom’s attire was designed by Martin Adeniji of New York. He is a groom stylist and was recommended by our wedding planner.
The bride’s dresses were from Alexandra’s Bridal Boutique; they created a great personalized experience. The first dress was Martina Liana Bridal Designs and her second dress was Allure Bridals. The groomsmen wore tuxedos from The Black Tux and the bridal party wore dresses from Azazie.
The colors we chose for our wedding were teal, champagne, and fuchsia, accented with light pink, cream, and peach. We wanted to use teal since it is a common favorite color between us. For our theme, we went with a blend of Bridgerton romance with some Caribbean flare for our interfaith, interracial wedding.
In addition to having two close friends get married at Avenir, we based our venue choice primarily on food as the groom has celiac disease. We know Avenir consistently wins awards for their food and we wanted to ensure plenty of variety with top-tier taste. Our family is also gluten-free, some vegan, and Avenir was able to accommodate everyone without any issues. The first time we went in for a tour we were welcomed with gluten-free hors d’ oeuvres, and we knew from that moment where our wedding would be. They were incredible.
We are an interracial couple, and we had an interfaith ceremony involving both a priest and a rabbi. We were able to incorporate traditions from each background and customize our ceremony to meet our needs and personalities. We were married under a chuppah and did a variation of the sand ceremony called “Unity in Glass.”
We took photos offsite before the ceremony at Queset Garden in North Easton, MA.
It was wonderful working with Saphire Event Group to make our dream wedding come true. They were responsive and accommodating for our crew during setup, attentive to detail, and went above and beyond to ensure our needs were met and our families were cared for.”
If you could give a piece of wedding planning advice to a newly engaged couple, what would it be?
“Stay calm and expect the unexpected. Things will go wrong, people will be late or have issues – what’s important is to focus on each other and know why you’re getting married.”
Yamiley & Marc’s best marriage advice:
“Keep laughing and keep smiling together. Life will throw curve balls at you, but together you can overcome anything and everything.”’
