Set up an account – head over to Pinterest.com and set up an account. You will need to have an account to save and share your inspiration boards.

Create and name a board – create a new board that you would like to file some wedding ideas under. It can be as broad as, “My Wedding” or as specific as “Wedding Centerpiece Ideas”.

Find inspiration! Type anything you would like in the search bar and be amazed at all the options that pop up. Like what you see? Pin it (AKA- save the photo to a board on your page) using the red thumbtack that appears over each picture.

Follow the expertsLooking for a daily dose of wedding inspiration without having to search, follow the experts in the industry. Websites such as The Knot and Style Me Pretty all have Pinterest boards that they add to regularly. You can follow their profile page and see everything they post or you can follow a specific board they have such as “Bridal Hairstyles”. This way, anytime you log into Pinterest, you’ll see the great new Pins all the accounts you follow have posted.

Expert Tip: See something on another website that you just have to add to one of your Pinterest boards? By downloading the Pin It Icon to your browser, you have the ability to save any picture you find while browsing to your Pinterest Account. Talk about options!

From Virtual to Reality

Now that you having the Pinning down pat, it’s time to get the true Pinterest wedding planning into motion. Create a boards that inspire you and have a similar vibe to the wedding style you have in mind. From color schemes, to gowns, drinks, make up and more!

Organize by vendor – With tons of wedding inspiration to be found, our best advice is to organize your Pinterest Boards by category. This will make it easier to plan specific parts of the wedding and share that board with the appropriate vendor. Yes, you are using Pinterest as your online bridal planning binder. They don’t called it a Pinterest wedding for nothing!

Board suggestions: The key boards we suggest having are flowers, wedding attire, bridal hair and makeup, food & beverage, décor and photography.  Once you have created and filled these boards create a My Wedding board. Go through your individual boards and copy your top 3 images from each one over to your My Wedding board. This will allow you to see how everything you love works together and can help you envision your big day. If something seems out of place, you can make some revisions prior to signing any vendor contracts.

Follow possible vendors: Following vendors you are interested in hiring is a great way to see their most recent work and be sure their quality meets your expectations. Keeping an eye on the things they are Pinning will also give you an insight into their overall style. You want to be sure you are choosing vendors that are a great match and can execute your vision.

Don’t forget to click: Pinterest is more than just a pretty face. Most of the photos you see are pinned from websites that will offer more information or inspiration. When you see a photo you love, click on it. If it was posted by a business, it will take you straight to the source. This may lead you to many other ideas and inspiration. Don’t only look for photos. Pinterest also offers many more helpful planning tools such as signature drink recipes, wedding checklists and budgeting tools, top questions to ask your vendors etc.
