Best Way to Create a Wedding Website | Saphire Event Group

Welcome to the digital age of matrimony, where a wedding website has the potential to become an invaluable tool in orchestrating your dream celebration. In this era of connectivity, a wedding website serves as much more than just a virtual invitation—it becomes the heartbeat of your wedding preparations, a central hub for information, updates, and communication. Having a wedding website is often a key element in curating a seamless wedding planning experience, and it’s easier than you might think! In this post we will share the best way to create a wedding website from pages to include, information and options to explore, and more!

What is a wedding website?

A wedding website is a unique, personal, and easily accessible resource for both you and your guests in the time leading up to your wedding day. You can share your love story and any pertinent information as you plan, and even answer your guest’s questions right there on the screen. Websites like Zola, The Knot, Joy, and Minted offer free wedding website designs and templates that are simple to use, completely customizable, and can be password-protected for privacy. You can even create a personalized wedding website URL!

Sounds cool, but where do I start?

The Homepage

With hundreds of beautiful designs to choose from, you can create a unique opening page that will be the first thing your guests see. This is a great opportunity to incorporate your wedding color palette, show off your engagement photos, and share a little bit about your love story!

Pro tip: Add a real-time countdown to the second you say “I Do”!

Where & When

wedding schedule and details to include on wedding website

This is a key component of a handy wedding website. Share all of the important details of your wedding events with your guests in one place! Some essentials to include on this page include:

  1. The wedding day schedule: when guests should arrive, the ceremony will begin, cocktail hour starts and ends, and the reception will commence. Don’t forget to include your send-off if you’re having one – that’s something your guests won’t want to miss!
  2. The addresses of your ceremony and reception location, with driving directions!
  3. Accommodation details, booking deadlines, recommendations, and local attractions for out-of-towners to enjoy!

Pro tip: Make it fun! Tell a little bit about why you chose your venue, if the location is sentimental, and share your favorite local spots: “We’ve loved staying at the Bright Morning Inn over the years, and we were able to book a room block with discounted prices for our wedding!”

Digital RSVP Page

Tracking your RSVPs digitally is game-changing. Gone are the days of checking your mailbox daily to update your headcount- instead, provide a deadline for RSVPs right there on your website and let technology do the counting for you. Be sure to include a space for guests to list any dietary restrictions, and choose their meal preferences!

Pro tip: Include a QR code on your mailed invitation to direct guests to your digital RSVP!

Wedding Party Introductions

There might not be time to introduce the people you’ve selected to stand beside you on your wedding day, so take this opportunity to introduce your entourage! You can include photos, share about your friendship and history, and highlight your maid of honor, best man, and other special roles in your wedding party.

Pro tip: You can also include your officiant, especially if they are a friend or family member!

Registry

Best way to create a wedding website is to include gift registry

Linking your registry to your wedding website is the easiest way for guests to choose the perfect gift, and to see what’s already been purchased from your list. If you’re asking for donations to a honeymoon fund or charity in lieu of gifts, this is the perfect page to include the necessary information. If the presence of your guests is the only present you need, here’s where you let them know!

Pro tip: Honeyfund is an excellent resource for creating a free “experience fund”, whether that be a honeymoon, anniversary trip, or dream date!

Stay in Touch

This is a helpful tool for answering questions and concerns from your guests about your wedding day. Whether you’ll personally be communicating with guests, or want to direct questions to a planner or coordinator, it’s important to include relevant contact information should anyone need to reach out. If you have a wedding hashtag or social media account, let your guests in on the fun by including that information as well!

Pro tip: Create a separate wedding email account so you don’t miss any communication from vendors, venues, coordinators, or guests!

Frequently Asked Questions

There are some questions that you can’t predict, but including these wedding website FAQs will save you time and stress. We’ve even included some thoughtful answers for inspiration!

Are kids invited?

Yes:

We’re excited to share our special day with the whole family, kids included! Pack those adorable outfits because there’s going to be love, laughter, and a whole lot of kid-friendly fun.

No:

While we adore the pitter-patter of little feet, this celebration will be a kid-free zone. Get ready for a parents’ night out of dancing, laughter, and making memories!

Is there an open bar?

Yes:

Drinks are on us, but the hangover is on you. The open bar will be available from 7 to 11 pm!

Mocktails Only:

We’re saying ‘I do’ to a celebration without alcohol. Let’s raise our mocktails, hit the dance floor, and make unforgettable memories together!

Cash bar:

Love is free, but the bar is cash! The bar will open after dinner, and only cash will be accepted – no cards, so please come prepared!

Pro tip: Most wedding venues have an on-site ATM available for guests, so be sure to include that information too!

Is there a dress code?

Yes:

Yes! We are requesting formal attire for our wedding, so please no jeans, leggings, or sweats. We can’t wait to see you all dressed up!

No:

Nope! So, whether you’re rocking a tuxedo or your favorite pair of jeans, just bring your fabulous self, and let’s celebrate in style.

Pro tip: If you’re requesting a specific color palette be followed, make sure to include that information and the shades you’re looking for in this section! You should also include any venue-related advice; for example, if you’re having an outdoor celebration on grass, encourage guests to skip stilettos!

Will transportation be provided?

Yes:

Yes! We have arranged transportation to collect our guests from the hotel at 4 pm sharp, so please plan accordingly.

No:

Since most of our guests are local, we will not be providing transportation and ask that you plan to arrive by 4 pm. Our venue has plenty of parking, and attendants will direct you to a spot upon arrival!
