Here at Saphire Event Group, we live, sleep, eat, and breathe weddings, and we believe that every couple should be treated like royalty. So clearly, we are beyond excited that another royal wedding is approaching just one month from today! Since announcing their engagement last November, Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have been become the “it” couple to watch, with all eyes on every minute detail of their wedding planning. Although Meghan started as a relatively unknown actress on a cable drama, she has quickly become a global trendsetter. Much like her future sister-in-law Kate, any item she wears sells out within hours. It’s no shock that style enthusiasts everywhere are waiting with bated breath to see what she will sport at her wedding on May 19 at St. George’s Chapel at Windsor Castle.
Since we spend so much time thinking about weddings, the SEG team wanted to weigh in on what they thought Meghan Markle could or should wear for her big day. Read on to hear our staff picks!
Stephanie S., Event Producer
“I would love to see Meghan Markle in a Hayley Paige dress! They are so whimsical, but classy and elegant at the same time. I’m assuming that she will go with a sleeved gown, but I love that these sleeves are sheer so they show a hint of skin. I hope that there will be some sort of intricate detailing and there has to be at least a little bit of train – after all, she is getting married in a castle!”
Kristen C., Sales Manager
“Of course options are limited, since we know she has to wear some sort of sleeve. I totally see her in something sleek like the Jenny Packham dress that was on the runway during Bridal Fashion Week this spring in New York. It’s modest but also very fashion-forward at the same time. I think that she will stick to ‘the rules’ but still make somewhat of a statement.”
Emma T., Event Producer
“I hope she wears something like a Carolina Herrera dress – it’s a simple, yet modern style. I love that Meghan Markle’s day-to-day outfits are so effortless – she wears a lot of classic pieces that are tailored for her impeccably. She always looks elegant on the red carpet, which makes me think that a gown like this could be perfect for her!”
Hillary W., Production Manager
“Meghan Markle is always really fashion forward, but classic at the same time. I guess you have to be when you’re marrying a prince! I don’t see her in anything over-the-top, just a great silhouette with hopefully some interesting details.”
Lindsay S., Marketing & Social Media Manager
“I hope that Meghan goes with something classy but with a little bit of an edge. She and Harry are completely redefining what it means to be young members of the Royal Family, and I would love to see her wear something that really cements her place in the fashion world. It’s got to be nerve-wracking for her – it’s a very thin line to try to make your future husband’s grandmother happy (who just happens to be you know, the Queen of England!) but to also show off your personal style. I know the chances of this happening are slim-to-none, but how amazing would it be if Meghan rocked an absolutely gorgeous pantsuit?!”
Elizabeth C., Senior Event Producer
“I see Meghan Markle being clean and sleek on her wedding day, but not your typical royal. I think she’ll definitely cover her shoulders, but maybe only as much as necessary. That’s why I love the little beaded cap sleeve on the Martina Liana gown! It’s still very traditional, but with a twist. With an open back and a detachable train, it’s perfect for the reception they’ll have later once all the formal wedding business is through.”
