Back in 2012, we had the immense honor of partnering with Wish Upon a Wedding for the very first time. This national nonprofit grants weddings and vow renewals to couples facing terminal illness or other severe life-altering circumstances. That first celebration took place at The Villa and was a day that left a lasting mark on our hearts.
When Wish Upon a Wedding reached out again this spring, we didn’t hesitate. We were incredibly humbled to learn that our team would once again have the privilege of helping bring a deserving couple’s dream wedding to life.
That couple was Ashlyn and Chris.
Their love story began online and quickly blossomed through a shared passion for nature, adventure, and travel. Ashlyn’s mother shared that her daughter “lit up when Chris entered her life, like I had never seen before.” During a trip to Iceland, surrounded by breathtaking lagoons, Chris proposed, marking the start of their journey toward forever.
But as they began planning their wedding, life had other plans. Chris has been courageously battling Stage 4 gastric cancer. The excitement of wedding planning was made complicated by the challenges they faced—until Wish Upon a Wedding stepped in to offer hope, love, and the promise of a celebration they’d never forget.
We were honored to offer Saphire Estate as the backdrop for their special day. The couple chose this space for its serene surroundings. The peaceful woods and lake reminded them of the positive memories they’ve shared outdoors throughout their relationship.
With the help of a truly incredible team of wish-granting vendors, Chris and Ashlyn’s wedding day came to life thanks to the couple’s talented wedding planner, Dani from Lykke Events. She carefully selected every vendor, and every detail was meticulously curated. From the embroidered keepsake pillows to the romantic string ensemble and coffee cart at cocktail hour, no element was overlooked.
