Wedding Planning With Inspiration Boards | Saphire Event Group

Once that sparkler is on your finger and you have said “Yes” the official wedding planning can begin. Oh come on, we know you’ve had a Pinterest Board for years! Figuring out where to start is often the toughest part of planning a wedding. Whether you are a tangible or virtual planner, visual ideas and inspiration boards can make a huge difference in selecting your wedding day style. From color palettes to gowns, you can create inspiration boards for every aspect of your big day. We are excited to share our favorite tips on wedding planning with inspiration boards.

Color Collage:

Choosing the perfect palette for your big day is one of the first steps in the wedding design process. With so many color options to choose from, it can be an overwhelming task. Creating a wedding collage is a great way to see how different shades work together.  There are many websites and photo apps where you can create a collage of photos you have saved on your phone or computer. Your color collages can serve as inspiration boards on their own, or they can be added to your other planning tools.

Virtual Planning

As we all know, Pinterest is a lovely land of virtual inspiration with endless ideas, especially when it comes to weddings. From engagement photo inspiration and save the date ideas, to dress shopping tips and reception dessert recipes, you can find it all with the click of a button. Organize your planning process by creating a separate board for each aspect of your wedding. This will allow you to see how each piece of the wedding is coming together and if it will all work in a cohesive way.

Pinterest boards also make it very easy to communicate your vision to your wedding vendors. If you are in the early planning stages and still have not selected vendors, check out their Pinterest Boards before you sign to make sure your styles are similar.  For more information on how to use Pinterest to plan your wedding, click here.

Physical Planning

If you are like us and enjoy seeing things come alive in a tangible way, you will absolutely love creating a physical inspiration board. There is nothing quite like a girls night where you and your bridesmaids are sipping (champagne) and flipping through wedding magazines! When you see a pretty picture, rip it out and save it! From magazine cut outs to fabulous fabric samples, even paint swatches, can come together to create your initial wedding vision. As you continually add, and sometimes even subtract items, you’ll truly be able to see your wedding style coming to life.

There are so many ways to create physical inspiration boards, one of our favorites is pinning (with actual tacks) inspiring images and items to a good old cork board or board in your home office. This can create a fun place in your home to sit and plan. If you don’t have space for a large board, don’t worry! We also suggest taking this same concept and creating a wedding inspiration binder. This portable inspiration board can be even more useful because it can be carried to vendor appointments to ensure all you selections work with your style.

We hope these tips for creating a wedding inspiration boards have been helpful. If you are looking for some pretty pictures to get you started why not explore the amazing images our SEG blog.
