Making it 2 the Aisle: Part 5

Let’s Eat!

We all know the wedding cake is one of the tastiest parts of the big day, but sometimes all the yummy choices make it difficult to settle on a final decision. Sarah and Adam decided to have their special cake made at Ivy’s, a bakery in Canton, Massachusetts. With the help of their baker, Tom, Sarah and Adam made their vision of a square, three-tier wedding cake come to life. Prior to their tastings, the couple looked online for cake designs so they could show Tom the colors and design types they liked, ultimately designing a cake that will be trimmed with plum ribbon to match the bridesmaid dresses and decorated with fresh flowers in all the fall colors. With that done, the next step was picking the frosting, cake flavors, and fillings.

Sarah and Adam loved the cake tasting process, because each tasting “felt like going on a date.” Having fallen in love with so many different cake flavors and fillings, the couple decided to incorporate all their favorites by having each tier vary in flavor. This choice was optimal not only for the couple, but for the guests, who were able to choose the slice of cake they wanted off the dessert table at the reception.

In addition to making decisions about their wedding cake, Sarah and Adam also had to decide what food, besides dessert, they were going to serve their guests. Exceptional cuisine was a must for this couple, as they both love to cook and wanted their guests to have plenty of options. Saphire’s ability to accommodate a split menu really helped in fulfilling their needs, as did the fabulous tasting we provided Sarah and Adam with.

Sarah says the “hors d’oeurves were the hardest thing to pick” since they were “all amazing.” However their top choice ended up being the pork medallions with pomegranate glaze sauce, because they were tasty and extremely unique. In the end, Sarah and Adam selected chicken breast with cornbread stuffing and cranberries (delicious and perfect for their seasonal theme!), along with prime rib, as their two entrée options. For a side dish they chose white wine and garlic flavored fresh-herb risotto. This dish was chosen not only because it is delectable, but also because it holds a special meaning with the couple – Adam was the first person to introduce Sarah to the dish (now one of her favorites).
