Setting the Standard for Weddings Since 1977

  • Where It All Began…

    1977
Roberta and Gerald Saphire purchase Daub’s Highland Manor on Lake Massapoag, renaming it the Saphire Manor and Inn. Originally known as Wentworth’s and then Anapolsky’s, the Manor had been built to accommodate the vacationers, tourists, and celebrities who flocked to the area during the summer season. Legend had it that in the 1930’s, the great Leonard Bernstein used to perform in the Manor’s grand ballroom.
  • The Next Generation

    2006
The Saphire’s son Jonathan and his wife Amie take over ownership of the property and relaunch it as Saphire Estate, investing nearly one million dollars to remodel the house and gardens while retaining its historic charm. Hosting only one wedding at a time, Saphire Estate becomes renowned across the South Shore as a quintessential New England venue, with lakefront property, beautifully landscaped grounds, and a classically decorated ballroom.
  • A Growing Company

    2008
Jonathan and Amie Saphire take over the clubhouse at Ridder Country Club, transforming it into a Mediterranean-inspired venue, featuring two ballrooms, tent space, as well as two outdoor ceremony locations and adding a second property to the Saphire Event Group portfolio. Originally a barn built in 1918 on a 250-acre dairy farm, the clubhouse served as one of Plymouth County’s most exclusive private event venues.
  • Breaking New Ground

    2017
In an effort to create a truly ideal venue, Saphire Event Group breaks ground on a brand-new 2400 sq. foot separate cocktail space at its flagship property, Saphire Estate. Completed in September 2018, this lounge features a limestone fireplace, custom chandeliers, a caesarstone bar top and more, retaining the classic beauty of the property while incorporating modern upgrades and design choices.
  • The "Future" of SEG

    2018
In the summer of 2018, Jonathan and Amie Saphire acquire the company’s third and largest property: Avenir, formerly Raffael’s of Walpole. Meaning “future” in French, this expansive space features a stately ballroom with opulent chandeliers, soaring ceilings, and space for almost 400 guests.

  • The Long-Awaited Venue

    2023
After years of searching, the Saphires fulfill their dream of a waterfront wedding venue by obtaining the former Lakeside Villa. Together, they transform it into The Lakehouse, pouring their passion into a full renovation, set to be completed by June 2024. As the company’s premier fourth venue, it boasts 500 feet of shoreline, an indoor-outdoor cocktail experience, a dreamy courtyard, and an expansive ballroom with floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking West Lake. Positioned as a one-of-a-kind Massachusetts waterfront wedding venue, The Lakehouse provides a unique alternative to Newport, Cape Cod, and the Islands.
